As most of you may know, The Wooden Box will be closed from Monday March, 5th 2012---Friday March, 9th 2012. We will be on Vacation. Classes will resume on Saturday evening March 10th, 2012, instead of Saturday morning. Due to this circumstance which none of you could have prevented and the fact that we do not have the staff to keep the Box open during this time, please deduct $10 from your monthly dues. These dues will be due the week of the 11th when you come in for class or if you plan to attend Saturday evening on the 10th. Thank You for your understanding

P.S. On a side note, If The Wooden Box is closed for any unforeseen or planned circumstances that prevent you from coming in your number of desired days you will be compensated for it. However, if for your own personal reasons (sick, tired, too cold/hot, etc.) you do not make your desired payed for days per week you will not be prorated for the month this will be your loss and the price will stay the same for the entire month regardless of the days you have missed. Once again thank you for your understanding

Exciting Times

Even though The Wooden Box is not currently affiliated  with Crossfit we use their methodology to help you reach your fitness goals. That being said I should mention to all of you that the Crossfit Games are upon us. The Open for the Games is only 11 days away. That being said every Saturday for the 5weeks of the open The Wooden Box will complete that weeks workout. I recommend all who would like to see how they match up to the rest of the WORLD to register on the Crossfit Games website and show up on those 5 Saturdays and show us what you got. Even if you do not want to register and just want to see how you do, please come and participate. There will be scaled options for those who are unable to perform the movements. This is a good motivation for individuals to step up there game and to put it all on the line.
February 25th 7am
March 3rd  7am
March 10th 6pm as we will be coming home from vacation on this date, however, want to participate
March 17th 7am
March 24th am
Again on these Saturdays will be the Crossfit Games Open Workouts
Hope to see you all there!!

2012 Goals

Recent research shows that while 52% of participants in a resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals.

A separate study in 2007 by Richard Wisemen from the University of Bristol showed that 78% of those who set New Year resolutions fail!

Men achieved their goal 22% more often when they engaged in goal setting, (a system where small measurable goals are being set; such as, a pound a week, instead of saying "lose weight"), while women succeeded 10% more when they made their goals public and got support from their friends.

So I am in favor of, instead of making a resolution, making short and long term goals. These goals will be placed on the white board for all to see and all to help each other achieve the same. There will be 30 day, 90 day and 180 day goals. Please think about the above image when you are setting your goals. Is it relevant or attainable to gain a strict pull-up in 30 days or get those toes to the bar. Is attainable to complete a specific workout as prescribed in 90 days.
I would like to have 2-3 30 day goals and at least 1-2 90 and 180 day goals. These can always be reset when they are achieved

Please try an refrain from "I will lose x pounds in 30 days" etc. Make goals that pertain to how you LOOK, FEEL and PERFORM. These will be better mentally for you as well as more easily attainable. We will be writing these down in class. So make sure you do not forget be before you leave. You may also leave them in the comments if you so wish.

Out with the Old, In with the New

Another year down!!
What does 2012 have in store for everyone!!
Hopefully we can help. 2012 boasts a new schedule as well as new implements to each class period. We have heard people asking for more mobility and education on the movements as well as more nutrition education.
Each class will now have a mobility and movement portion. This will assist in better movement patterns and the best fit positions for everyone during the workout.
There will then, as always, be a warmup and then the workout.
Post workout we will talk about nutrition and keep you guys on the right track.
We are excited to make 2012 the best year for your fitness and health. As always please e-mail us with any questions or concerns.
Happy New Year and please be safe!!
